Meet/Race Procedures
1. We will stay together as a team. Once we arrive, we will find a team spot where all belongings, first aid kit, etc. can be found. Coach will check the team in and get packet of information with numbers, and coach will pass out all numbers and pins. Athletes should pin their numbers on immediately after getting them so as not to lose them.
2. When possible, we will walk/jog the course together as a team, so athletes are familiar with the course.
3. All athletes should be at the starting line about 10 minutes before their race. Find the team's box. Together, do warm-up plyos and acceleration runs to prepare for the race. If it is cold, keep warm clothes on until about 2-3 minutes before the start of the race. Teammates who are not in the same race will collect the warm clothes and take them to the team spot then cheer on the runners. Tuck jerseys in.
4. We run in rain, snow, and the cold. Only lightening will delay or stop a meet.
5. During the race, follow the painted line that indicates the course. There will be flags at intersections to help keep athletes on the course. Parents and family members are welcome to follow the course to cheer on runners.
6. After athletes cross the finish line, they need to stay in order of crossing the finish line through the chute, so a meet worker can collect the tab at the bottom of their numbers. Water is provided at the end of the chute.
7. When the race is finished, athletes should walk--not lie or sit down, which causes cramping. If it is cold, get warm clothes on after the race. Cheer on runners who are still racing.
8. After the meet, we will cool down and stretch as a team.
9. When packing up the team spot, be sure to throw away any trash and grab everything we brought.
10. If an athlete is leaving with a parent, be sure the parent signs out the athlete with the coach.
